The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is rumoured to happen in early July this year.- Samsung will reportedly switch to its in-house chipset from Qualcomm for the first time on the clamshell flip phone.
- Samsung foundry seems to have resolved the lower yeild rates for its 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset.

This year, Samsung’s foldable lineup is expected to comprise of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the Z Flip 7 FE. Since the last few months, there have been contradicting reports about the choice of processor the South Korean brand would adopt for its next-generation clamshell foldable. Now, a new report seemingly confirms the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7’s chipset.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 could switch to Exynos SoC
- The Chosun Daily reports (via) that Samsung has finalised Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
- This will be a move away from Qualcomm’s flaghsip Snapdragon chipsets that the company has used for its flip foldable phones since inception.
- Citing an industry souce, the publication adds that Samsung’s decision to opt for Exynos instead of Snapdragon was driven due to the price factor.
- The smaller shipment volumes of foldable phones compared to Galaxy S series is also said to have worked in favour of opting for Exynos chip.
- However, the South Korean brand was also facing challenges with the yeild rates for 3nm node on which the Exynos 2500 will be based. Samsung Foundry seems to have resolved this problem.
- The upcoming flip phone is set to enter mass production this month with 200,000 units planned to be produced initially.
- The publication also states that Samsung will stick with Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7: what we know so far
- Per leaked renders, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to come with a larger secondary display measuring 4-inches compared to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
- The phone is expected to ship with OneUI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box.
- As per 3C certification, the upcoming offering will support 25W fast charging and is rumoured to be backed by a larger 4,174mAh battery unit compared to 4,000mAh on the predecessor.
